This season was the final year of Ken Holland's contract with the Edmonton Oilers, and now according to TSN's Darren Dreger, it's confirmed that Holland will not be returning next year.
According to Jason Gregor, the Oilers will use Jeff Jackson as their interim General Manager. The 68 year old Ken Holland has had a career full of hockey now, and despite Dreger's report, seems inclined to retire now.
With plenty of pivotal decisions to be made this offseason, hopefully it's the right decision to leave it in the hands of the new President Jeff Jackson. As a former player agent, he should be well-equipped to handle the contract negotiations for Leon Draisaitl, and then Connor McDavid and Evan Bouchard.
If Jackson and the Oilers can keep this core together, hire the right General Manager, and add to the roster a little more - this team will be back with multiple opportunities to win the Stanley Cup.
