Connor McDavid had one of the greatest playoffs of all time this season, but came up just short of a Stanley Cup. McDavid still won the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP, but did not return to the ice to accept it.

Bettman read out McDavid's accomplishments, and immediately Panthers fans recognized that one of their players wouldn't win the MVP. Despite winning the Stanley Cup and being at the top, Panthers fans still booed McDavid, and changed for Bobrovsky to win instead.

Connor McDavid doesn't stick around to accept Playoff MVP Trophy from Gary Bettman

McDavid came within 5 points of beating Gretzky's all time points record in a single playoffs, and broke the record for most playoff assists. It was a well deserved award for McDavid, but being crushed by the defeat, he headed back to the locker room and chose not to come out and accept the trophy from the Commissioner Gary Bettman. He's now the first losing player to win MVP since J.S. Giguere in 2003.

Many times during this game, McDavid had opportunities to make a play and at least tie the game, but just couldn't bury his chances. In heartbreaking fashion, the league's best offence only scored one goal in Game 7, and came so far just to drop it at the end. This won't be the end though, these Oilers will be back next year.
