Trade talks have been heating up between the teams surrounding Ullmark for the last few days, and earlier this week it was reported he officially waived his no-trade-clause to join the Ottawa Senators. Under new ownership and with a new GM, the Senators are making a big push to actually be competitive next year, beginning with acquiring a Vezina winning goalie in Linus Ullmark.
Over his entire 249 game NHL career, Ullmark has consistently been an elite starting goaltender. He's posted an elite .918 save percentage over his career with the Sabres and Bruins, and may finally be the one to give Ottawa stable goaltending for the first time in a long time.
The return for the Ullmark isn't official yet, but initial reports make it sound like Ottawa got away with a steal of a deal. If the deal is good enough and the Senators can finally get some better play from their young core, maybe Ottawa finally does threaten for a playoff spot next year.
UPDATE:
The full trade will see the Ottawa Senators receive Linus Ullmark in exchange for a first round pick, Joonas Korpisalo, and Mark Kastelic.
