Mitch Marner traded to Utah HC, according to report
Moments ago, Rob Reinhart of the New York Herald reported that the Toronto Maple Leafs have finalized a trade to send Mitch Marner to the Utah Hockey Club.
Although the final terms of the deal have not been disclosed, it's been confirmed that Marner's time in Toronto is over.
An official announcement is expected sometime this week.
Reinhart has been torn apart in the comments section with plenty of fans skeptical of his report, but he claims to be a journalist previously with Sports Illustrated and Bleacher Report. If the report is true that the trade will be announced closer to the Draft, Reinhart was the absolute first in the story.
Just earlier today, insider Frank Seravalli reported that the Leafs have no interest in running it back with Mitch Marner again, and practically guaranteed that the Leafs will trade him.
The Utah Hockey Club makes a lot of sense as a suitor for Mitch Marner. The team is reportedly looking to add a face to their franchise, and expectations would certainly be lower than Toronto. Utah would add a star player and make the team better in their inaugural season, and the Leafs would finally be shaking up their roster after repeated playoff failure.
In the coming days after the Cup Final and up until the draft, there could be some blockbuster trades being announced, including Marner to Utah HC if Reinhart's report is correct.
