A coaching change may be needed by the Edmonton Oilers if Jeff Jackson and the Oilers front office are not happy with where the team is headed.

A dismal 2-7-1 start to the NHL regular season has prompted talk of coaching changes, and the Oilers were one of them.

To interject, controversial ex-NHL referee Tim Peel offered his opinion, even though no one asked for it.

In order to turn the Edmonton Oilers into a winning team, Joel Quenneville should be hired to take over where the Florida Panthers left off.

He concluded his tenure in Chicago with a 45224996 regular season record, a 7652 record in the postseason, and as the second winningest coach in NHL history with 890 wins. His 452 wins are second in Blackhawks history behind only Billy Reay, and only Reay had a longer unbroken tenure with the team.

In spite of Joel Quenneville's efforts to redeem himself, Tim Peel's idea has only one major flaw: He hasn't been reinstated despite his efforts to do so.

It would be a viable coaching change in the long run IF Quenneville were available and Gary Bettman decided to reinstate him.
