Moments ago, the Edmonton Oilers announced that the team has called up forward Raphael Lavoie on an emergency recall, and also sent defenceman Ben Gleason to the Bakersfield Condors.

It's not immediately clear what the need for the emergency recall is, but it could signal that a player is dealing with an injury that will keep them out of the lineup tonight, or even that a trade or following roster move could be incoming.

Gleason was brought to the Oilers this season when Philip Broberg requested a trade due to lack of ice time, and in his few weeks with the team, did not play a single game. Lavoie has played six games with the Oilers already this season, but has not recorded any points and has a on-ice rating of -2. In 19 games in the AHL this year, Lavoie has shown offensive talent with 10 goals and 14 points.

Again, by nature of the emergency recall, it seems likely that Lavoie would draw into the lineup tonight against the Los Angeles Kings. At this point, we don't yet know who could be coming out.

UPDATE: It has now been confirmed by coach Knoblauch that Lavoie will be in the lineup tonight.
