According to multiple reports from Frank Seravalli and OilersNation, the Edmonton Oilers could once again look to trade Jack Campbell - after it was assumed a buyout would be the only option. Because the Oilers were able to make two big additions to their lineup for no cost, they may have the assets to unload Campbell's contract and still make another trade deadline move.

Since the Edmonton Oilers sent Campbell to the AHL and made the coaching change to bring in Kris Knoblauch, the team has been nearly unstoppable and have shot up the standings from near last to back in the playoffs. Now that they've signed Corey Perry and top prospect Dylan Holloway is returning to the lineup, the Oilers trade deadline could completely turn around.

If the Oilers could find a way to offload Campbell's contract, they could use that cap savings to pursue another massive move they're expected to make, which is an addition to the top six. The team would reportedly like to find a winger for Leon Draisaitl, and is targeting Jake Guentzel, David Perron, Jordan Eberle, and more. If the Oilers land one of those players, they'll be in an incredibly spot for the playoffs with easily the best offence in the league.

Despite Campbell's recently improved okay in the AHL, it's still not worth the risk to recall him back to the Oilers before trying to make a trade. If things went south again in Campbell's return, he might not be moveable at all. If the Oilers find any team willing to take on Campbell's contract in a trade, the front office will seriously have to consider it - even if it costs them assets.
