World Hockey Report tweeted out one of the most captivating videos in hockey, seeing the raw emotion on all the Oilers players faces as they sit in their stalls completely shell shocked and processing what just happened as they could hear NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announce Connor McDavid as the MVP and then awarding the Stanley Cup to the Panthers.
The silence was deafening and even players did not move an inch while some were shedding tears. What's even more painful about this video is the Oilers realizing that they had stormed back into the series being down 3-0 to still not win The Cup being short two goals.
Another clip saw Zach Hyman as the player to step up with a speech in the gut-wrenching moment. Hyman stressed that he knew the Oilers would be back in that moment, and that he just hopes the players on the team stick together.
This video also answered the question about why Connor McDavid never came out to accept his MVP trophy. The raw emotions he was showing gave a clear view that he was never going to leave that dressing room with his teammates completely stunned.
Sports has certainly brought the personal emotions of all players as cameras have been allowed into the dressing rooms and showing all the highs and the lows of teams. This video speaks 1000 words for what was going through their minds in one of the most gut-wrenching moments of their careers.
