Comments Surface From Ottawa Senators Brady Tkachuk About Potentially Playing For Edmonton Oilers

During the latest episode of the 32 thoughts podcast, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk hoped he would have been drafted by the Edmonton Oilers.
Friedman dropped this shocking revelation after he heard a story about an interview that was done with Tkachuk during his draft year with the Oilers interviewing him and asking him a simple question of whether he would want to come to their team.
»I heard a great story this week that when Brady Tkachuk, during his draft year, met with the Oilers, they asked him would you be happy to come here, and he said something along the lines of, 'I would love to come to Edmonton and take on my brother five times a year,'» - Elliotte Friedman
Brady's statement next is not surprising whatsoever as both Matthew and himself are one of the most openly competitive brothers in the NHL. It's so well known that they're even in commercials let's show how they always push each other while still getting along.
It was quite unlikely during his draft year that the Oilers were able to acquire his draft pick as the team's at 10th overall and Tkachuk ended up being drafted 4th overall by the Senators.
It was also during that time where Matthew was playing for the Oilers arch rival the Calgary Flames which would have had more incentive to be a fiery rivalry with both brothers playing against each other so often.
The Oilers ended up drafting Evan Bouchard with that pick which he has become a staple and a fixture on that blue line that is due for a contract extension as he will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.
No matter the case, it would have been an intriguing match up with both brothers facing off against one another and adding a player like Brady to a line of Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl.
