Moments ago in tonight's Edmonton Oilers game, Connor McDavid made history as the fourth fastest player to record 1000 career points.

It was a dream scenario for McDavid to record his 1000th point. On a clean 2 on 1 look, Leon Draisaitl dished a perfect pass to McDavid who fired it into the net for the goal.

Hilariously, McDavid almost fell in the celebration afterward, but then stood in the corner for an amazing celebration. Each Oiler player came off the bench to give their congratulations to McDavid, and on the bench, each coach came by to speak to him too.

It surely wasn't a surprise that McDavid scored his 1000th point tonight, after Leon Draisaitl guaranteed that he would reach the milestone in front of the home crowd in Edmonton. It would've been a nightmare for all of hockey if it had to happen in Toronto instead!

If it wasn't already clear, McDavid is making a case for himself to be the greatest player in the history of the sport, and tonight if the first major milestone in that career cabinet.

Only behind Gretzky, Lemieux, and Bossy in point rate so far, what McDavid is doing in the modern era of hockey is truly special. McDavid's speed, playmaking, puck carrying, and offensive awareness make him a player unlike hockey has ever seen before.

McDavid's focus immediately after reaching the milestone probably went back to winning tonight's game - and his goal was a big part in that. Hopefully the Oilers can complete another comeback win against the Predators on the back of this amazing moment in franchise history.
