It was a crazy finish in Game 5 when Connor McDavid iced the game after Panthers Matthew Tkachuk did some late game heroics.
In the dying seconds of the third period, the Panthers we're doing all they can to try to tie the game when a turnover led two the puck rolling down into the Panthers end. Matthew Tkachuk skated as hard as he could and made one of the best saves of the playoffs as he averted a goal on an empty net.
However, Connor McDavid was nearby, and he made quick work of the open net putting the game out of reach for the Panthers and the Oilers winning 5-3.
It was seen just after the game on how Panthers general manager bill Zito reacted to both the save and the goal that sent this series back to Edmonton. It was clear that Zito lost is cool and even chucked a water bottle against the wall as he stormed out of his executive suite.
The Oilers continue to defy the odds as they won again 5-3 and will now head back to Edmonton with a two-day break to see if they can take Game 6 and tie this series up which many felt was unthinkable.
The Oilers now have all the momentum on their side, and they will need another effort like tonight to get the job done.
