The Edmonton Oilers enjoyed defeating the Vancouver Canucks 6-2 last night and watching their pest of a forward Corey Perry put on a show getting under the skin of their opponents.

Perry is well known for his antics on the ice as he understands how to get under the skin of other players with obnoxious comments or odd questions that would throw their game off.

Perry asked one Canuck what he had for dinner

During his post media scrum, a reporter asked gift that was a vintage Corey Perry game to which he chuckled and scoffed saying that he was just out there playing hockey. Another time he spoke to JT Miller and asked him what he had for dinner and how he was doing.

Corey Perry took a few punches from Teddy Blueger but refused to drop the gloves. This resulted in a roughing penalty for Blueger that cancelled out the Canucks' man advantage.

"We were dialled in right from the start. It was all business for us. Two points were at stake, coming out & getting those early goals really set the table for the rest of the game." Corey Perry on the #Oilers strong start vs. Vancouver. - Corey Perry Edmonton Oilers

Draisaitl praises work of Perry during game

Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl spoke to the media as well and gave praise to Perry's game stating that he is the best in the business and just knows when to do what he does at the right time. He even spoke about the time he played against Perry and laughed that it wasn't fun and he's happy that he's on his side.

"He's probably the best in the league at it. He knows when to do what at the right times." Leon Draisaitl on Corey Perry's in-game management on display against the Canucks.

The 39-year-old winger has put up modest numbers through 47 games this year where he has scored eight goals with eight assists for 16 points and is a + 7.

Even though he doesn't bring the big totals like he did in the past, his experience and his leadership with the team is invaluable and shows when he plays games like he did on Thursday.

The Oilers will be ready for their second game of their six game homestand as the Buffalo Sabres will arrive and play them on January 25th at 4:00 PM eastern.
