Knoblauch revealed that both Oilers wingers will not play their games next weekend against the Utah Hockey Club and Colorado Avalanche, but they will travel with the team.
It's possible that both players have either suffered a setback with their current injuries, or what was initially thought to be a minor problem is turning out to be a major injury.
Zach Hyman's injury is the less concerning one right now. Hyman sustained an injury in the second period against the Ottawa Senators after taking a body check, and was immediately ruled out for the short term.
Victor Arvidsson on the other hand is becoming very concerning. Arvidsson missed practice a few weeks ago and was ruled day to day, and now he will miss 8 games - probably more at this rate.
The 31 year old Swede has only played more than 66 games three times in his 11 year career.
There's significant concerns among Oilers fans that Arvidsson is an injury-prone player, and his extended absence with an undisclosed injury isn't helping that reputation right now.
The more concerning part about Arvidsson right now is that he hasn't produced when he was healthy and in the lineup.
While playing next to an MVP candidate in Leon Draisaitl for 16 games, Arvidsson only scored 2 goals and 5 points. That's not the production the Oilers were hoping for when they signed Arvidsson to a $4M salary.
Without Hyman and Arvidsson, the Oilers have been running mostly with 11 forwards and 7 defencemen, and it's clearly tiring out some veterans.
This 5 day break the Oilers have can hopefully give them time to rest and recover, but hopefully, Hyman and Arvidsson can return midway into the road trip.
