Vancouver Canucks fans were quite angry with the city's mayor Ken Sim after he made ridiculous comments about the city's safety with another Canucks Stanley Cup run.

Sim spoke to the Daily Hive and feels that another Stanley Cup run for the Canucks would be quite costly to the city and cause undue stress two city officials as the concern for safety.

He also mentioned that he would want them to win in a game seven in overtime as he is a fan of the team.

As a fan, I want to see the Canucks have an exciting run and make it to the Stanley Cup Finals, and hopefully win in Game 7 in overtime. As the Mayor of Vancouver, I do not want them to play a single game in the playoffs because the stress that it causes for safety,» Sim said.

He added, "We can handle it, but the costs, if they made another [Stanley Cup] run, the bill would be in the millions of dollars."

These comments do not sit well with the fan base as many drew to the X platform and voiced their anger towards their mayor.

It's safe to say that Sim is reflecting on the past as the city of Vancouver is still remembering the Stanley Cup final back in 2011 which led them to lose against the Boston Bruins and cause a citywide riot that paralyzed the city for several days.

During last year's playoff run the Canucks and the city of Vancouver took extra precautions to not allow large groups to congregate to watch the game and even blocked off some streets to stem any potential violence.

The Canucks ended up losing in the second round against the Edmonton Oilers and no major incidents were reported. It's safe to say that Mayor Sim will need to choose his words wisely as the Canucks fan base is listening and watching.
