He discussed several points which include an abysmal start to the season, ineffective on the penalty kill to which he has been on the ice for five of the 10 power play goals scored against, and only had four goals through 78 regular season games which includes last year.
The 31-year-old center was re signed to a three-year contract extension that was worth $4.35 million and holds a cap hit of 1.45 million per season. While many feel that this number maybe just right for Janmark, but I do agree with Yaremchuk that this forward means to produce much more especially as he has on average 11 minutes of ice time. This will be Janmark's third season with the Oilers and he is currently on the fourth line with Derek Ryan and Corey Perry.
These players are vital for a team success as they can score between 10 to 15 goals a year for the low cost they hold. Janmark also has had trouble staying healthy as he has yet to play a full season in his career.
With that said, the Oilers are turning the corner to their slow start as they won their last game 4-0 against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday. Later today at 6:00 PM eastern, the Oilers will be on the road and take on Dylan Larkin and his Detroit Red Wings. This will be the first of a four-game road trip where they will face off against the Red Wings, Blue Jackets, Predators and complete the trip back in Alberta against the Calgary Flames.
Hopefully some momentum can be built, and the team can string some wins together.
