Hockey players around the world will have odd traditions and weird equipment quirks that will catch the public's eye as Oilers prospect Matvei Petrov has one crazy tape job on his stick.

He has chosen to tape his entire stick which is highly unusual as most players will only tape the blade. It's unknown why he does this but it's certainly an interesting way to use your equipment. According to the eliteprospects.com, Petrov was drafted by the Oilers in 2021, sixth round, 180th overall.

Standing at six foot 2 and 179 lbs, the 21-year-old right winger played for the Bakersfield condors last season. During that year, he played 53 games scoring nine goals with five assists for 14 points and has 34 penalty minutes. He is known for his ability to move entirely around the offensive zone while possessing a great release on his shot along with great vision and puck moving ability.

With training camp on the horizon, Petrov along with many other Oilers prospects will attempt to impress the brass so that they can have a better look at them and potentially fill out the bottom 6 role of the Oilers.

It's entirely possible that he may make the team or at least have a longer look early one of the first few weeks of the season.
