Leon Draisaitl Bursts Out Laughing at Fan's T-Shirt: "I've Got to Take a Picture of This"
Oilers fans had an incredible opportunity last night to meet the team's star players for autographs at the West Edmonton Mall, and one fan had a particularly great interaction with Leon Draisaitl.
The fan knew that Leon Draisaitl was close friends with former Oiler Cody Ceci, and they decided to wear a custom t-shirt of Ceci while meeting Draisaitl. The fan recorded the interaction, and when Leon noticed the t-shirt, he burst out laughing and stopped them to take a picture.
DRAISAITL: Yeah no worries - *Laughs* - wait, wait, I got to take a picture of this.
The fan followed up and uploaded a picture of their t-shirt. It's definitely something that could only come from a diehard Oilers fan: showing a transparent head shot of Ceci with his hilarious nickname, «Mr. Game 7».
It must have been an incredible personal moment for the fan to connect with the Oilers superstar, and it's awesome to see Leon genuinely pumped to be interacting with fans. The Oilers and the fans in Edmonton have an incredibly close relationship, and this interaction is direct proof of that.
Fans were waiting over 8 hours yesterday in the Mall to meet McDavid and the Oilers yesterday, and it must have produced some great moments for fans and brought a large group of diehards together. It's these kinds of events that make the Oilers the best fanbase in the NHL.
The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow night against the Pittsburgh Penguins, in desperate need of a win to avoid another slow start.
