Oilers superstar Connor McDavid has been absent from practice and missed yesterday's game with an injury, but the captain is still making an impact on the team.

In his first game back up with the team since being recalled from the AHL, Holloway had an impressive performance, and scored a goal along with a plus 3 rating. After a post game interview with Gene Principe, Connor McDavid and Derek Ryan were waiting to give Holloway their praise. It was an incredible sight to see the Oilers captain really making an effort to recognize Holloway's game and perseverance this year.

As the 14th overall pick of the Oilers in 2020, the team still has high hopes that the 22 year old can develop into a legitimate top six player. Holloway has dominated AHL competition this season, but has rarely produced in limited ice time with the Oilers.

After his best game as on Oiler last night, perhaps coach Knoblauch can find some more opportunity for Holloway down the stretch of the season. At practice today, Knoblauch revealed that McDavid remains day-to-day with his injury, so it seems like he won't be playing in tomorrow night's game against the Coyotes - especially being the first half of a back to back. McDavid remained out of practice today, and Holloway skated on the third line again.

Hopefully, last night's great performance from Holloway is the beginning of a streak, and he can finally begin to translate his game to the NHL level. At the very least, it should begin to earn him a longer leash with coach Knoblauch.
