As the 2023-2024 season winds down and the Ottawa Senators having one of their most disappointing seasons in the past decade have been kicking the tires on a possible Brady Tkachuk trade. This news came to light from the Cam and Strict podcast as both hosts discussed Tkachuk's frustration towards the organization and possibly moving on.

This rumor first surfaced back in February, when Spittin Chiclets Ryan Whitney tweeted that something was cooking in Ottawa as the Senators may be willing to move Brady Tkachuk at the trade deadline. This intrigued many people as the Senators are currently going through a ownership change and management change which brings a new vision and new direction that may not fit with Tkachuk vision.

If the Senators are shopping Tkachuk and have made some inquiries to other general managers, it's likely many will line up for his services especially during the summer months when the cap does not apply. Many general managers feel that better trades are made during the offseason as they don't have the impedance of salary cap issues and have a better sense of how their team will be structured next year.

It's also important to note that even though he signed a seven-year $57.5 million contract back in 2022, the Senators still can trade Tkachuk as he currently does not have a no movement clause. This will take effect in 2025-2026 and he has a cap hit of $8.205 million till 2027-2028.

It remains to be seen on whether general manager Steve Staios is willing to make this bold move, however, but the team floundering and new ownership taking hold it's quite possible that Senators owner Michael Andlauer may want to take the team in a different direction.
