With the rumours of Ken Holland most likely leaving Edmonton for a GM spot on a different team next year, Edmonton now has to find a new GM to fill his role. There are many good options out there, and one option has just been added to the table with Hurricans Gm Don Waddell.

This is pretty definitive news for LeBrun to be saying that they are expecting his leave from the team. Naturally it's great to wonder, would he be a great fit for the Oilers? Waddell is an absolute legend and brings personality to the team that not many GMs have. This clip shows perfectly how close he is with his players and how hilarious he is when it comes to his job.

Not only is he funny however, but he is also a fantastic GM. Waddell is an amazing contract negotiator, evident by the trove of guys on Carolina who have surplus contract value. Despite the Canes' lack of success in the conference finals, he has still done everything he can to get the team to that position.

He has had a lot of very risky moves pan out for him amazingly, and especially excels in trade negotiations with other GMs. Waddell is a very aggressive manager, not being afraid to move guys like Hanifin, Lindholm and Skinner out at prime times for him to get the best value.

Waddell will be a fantastic option wherever he goes, and the Oilers will want to bring someone in before they get stuck empty handed. He has only interviewed with Columbus as of right now, but if Edmonton comes calling it'll be hard to see anyone turn them down.
