It appears that Oilers fan favorite Sam Gagner has decided on potential retirement going into next season.

A picture was tweeted out of Gagner in the midst of an intense workout with former Oilers star Taylor Hall in the Muskoka. Many were surprised to see both men working out together, but it's become common amongst NHL players.

It was a turbulent but good year for Gagner as he signed a professional tryout contract with the Oilers for his third stint with the team. Prior to his signing, he recovered from double hip surgery which kept him from the line up for the first month and a half of the season.

He then went on to play 28 games with the Oilers, scoring five goals with five assists for 10 points and was a 2. But he was well received by the fans and told many times that he enjoys playing for the Oilers.

Now with the off season in full swing, it remains to be seen on whether General Manager Stan Bowman and President Jeff Jackson will sign him for another year. It's quite likely that he will be back on another professional tryout with another team as he would like to prolong his career.

Working out with Hall, it's plausible that he could be in a Blackhawks uniform next season? Remains to be seen.
