During last night's game, a group of rowdy Oilers fans initiated a fight outside the arena, and this time it seemed like the authorities were prepared. Multiple officers were on the scene and looked very proactive in their efforts to break up the fights.
It did not look like any overly concerning excessive force was used, but the officers were able to take care of the aggressors and protect the fan environment. The video ended seems multiple officers holding down one man, and pushing another who was rubbernecking the incident.
Back in the second round against Vancouver, things got even more tense with so many Canucks fans also in the Moss Pit. Late in the series, one Canucks fan was causing problems and was knocked out by a younger Oiler fans.
Tensions must have been high outside the arena as the Oilers dropped Game 2 against Dallas by a score of 3-1, but that's never an excuse for fans to turn on each other and start fights. For the vast majority of fans at the playoff watch parties, it's a great experience for people to gather with other passionate fans and support the team - but a few bad apples are popping up a bit too much. Leave the fights for the players on the ice, and just enjoy the game already!
