The Edmonton Oilers hosted the St. Louis Blues last night and saw the return of two former players, Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway. Oil Country didn't give them a warm welcome, and Holloway responded after the game.

Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway left the Oilers in the offseason after signing rare offer sheets with the St. Louis Blues.

Fans are obviously frustrated that two young promising players took an avenue to get out the organization. Anytime either player touched the puck early in the game, Oilers fans showered them with boos.

Fans had been voting prior to the game as to whether or not they would boo, and everyone got their answer last night.

Oilers fans are right to be frustrated by losing Broberg and Holloway, and even the fact that they left on their own accord to sign offer sheets.

Still, the reality is that Oilers management botched their development which resulted in the offer sheets. President Jeff Jackson admitted as much in a recent interview.

Dylan Holloway Says He Understands Boos From Oilers Fans

The only former Oiler to speak to the media after the game was Dylan Holloway, who addressed the boos from the fans head on with a smile on his face, as usual.

HOLLOWAY: Obviously it's a different experience when you go up against your former team. I built so good relationships with the guys, the staff, and everyone in Oil Country. So it was definitely a little different

REPORTER: Did you get a chuckle out of the boos? It was pretty funny

HOLLOWAY: Yeah, I said it yesterday, that's what makes it so fun to play here, is the passionate fanbase. They're a knowledgeable fanbase, too. So I don't know, it was definitely different.

Holloway himself scored a goal last night, bringing his totals this year to new career highs of 9 goals and 17 points.

Oilers fans will be seeing Holloway and Broberg for years to come, and it may sting as they have the success they could've had in Edmonton. Philip Broberg has career highs too, with 2 goals and 12 points in 16 games.

For their first matchup, it was great for the Oilers to come away with the win. They'll take the personal victory over Broberg and Holloway, and continue to climb the standings after a slower start than expected.
