The 22 year old forward is a restricted free agent this offseason, and his salary value will be an interesting case. According to Jim Matheson, Holloway could earn up to $1.835M in salary on a two year contract.
Holloway has played 89 regular season games, but only scored 9 goals and 18 points. In the playoffs however, he elevated his game for a few clutch appearances and played mostly in the top-six, scoring 5 goals in 26 games. Matheson compared Holloway to Vegas' Pavel Dorofyev, who earned $1.835M on his RFA contract.
For a player who has scored as little as Holloway has, $1.835M would feel a little rich. The team also needs to sign RFA Philip Broberg, and they're currently $2.45M over the salary cap. Hopefully they can get both RFAs signed to cheaper deals, and can make a trade for free up the cap space needed.
The Oilers don't need to sign their RFAs until the beginning of the season, but hopefully, both parties can agree to a deal before that and can be at training camp for day one.
