As the trade deadline approaches on March 8th, general manager Ken Holland is assessing his team on what kind of changes he can make that will improve the team's chances for a long cup run. It can be like walking a tightrope as Holland needs to find the balance on how much change is needed.

This point was brought up during the Jason Gregor show when Oilers reporter Mark Spector explained what Holland is facing as he tries to help the team down the stretch but keep the team's balance and chemistry intact.

The Oilers have been on an impressive run especially in their second half after having a disastrous first two months of the season. Their complete 180 is quite impressive considering they did fire their coach at the end of November.

The Oilers are currently nestled in a playoff spot and are looking to cement their position. It's important to not trade away those key guys as they will be the ones who will help the team when the bigger guns are silent due to heavy checking and playoff style hockey.

I don't expect Holland to sit on his hands and do absolutely nothing however small moves in shoring up key places like the bottom 6 forwards, a depth defenceman and their goaltending would be necessary to help solidify their playoff spot and Cup run.

The Oilers will be at home to face off against the visiting Bruins tonight and game time will be 10:00pm eastern, 7:00 Mountain time.
