The Edmonton Oilers left restricted free agent Carter Savoie unqualified this year, allowing him to pursue an opportunity with another team, hopefully in the NHL.

Now, reports are emerging that the Oilers and Savoie may be coming back together after the market for Savoie was thin.

The Edmonton native Savoie was drafted in the fourth round by the Oilers in 2020, but hasn't made much of a push for the NHL roster at all. His usage was down with the Condors favouring veterans in the AHL, but Savoie only scored 10 goals and 22 points in 63 games. With those numbers, he's dreaming of he thinks he'll get an NHL opportunity somewhere.

Not only that, but Carter Savoie has a personal reason to return to the Oilers organization this year. The Oilers recently acquired his brother Matthew Savoie from the Buffalo Sabres, and he's expected to start in the AHL next season. The two brothers would have an opportunity to play with each other on the Condors if Carter was to return.

Carter Savoie has shown some offensive talent and fans have clamoured for him to get more opportunity in the AHL, but as of now, he looks like a long shot to play in the NHL. Still, it'd be a great feel good story for new top prospect Matthew Savoie, playing with his brother for their hometown team.
