The Oilers have added two offensive threats in Jeff Skinner and Victor Arvidsson, boosting an offence that already scored the most goals in the NHL last season. Along with getting more salary cap space by shipping out Jack Campbell, the Oilers have made great moves on the fringes to improve a Cup caliber team. Not only that, but they were able to retain many of their expiring free agents, including trade acquisition Adam Henrique.
McDavid was speaking at Zach Hyman's Celebrity Gold Classic Charity event in Toronto, the first time a few Oilers have been in front of the media since locker room clean out day. McDavid and Hyman both revealed that they only took a week off, and plenty of Oilers got back together to begin working out and preparing for next year. Both McDavid and Hyman spoke at length about the lessons learned from last year's loss, and the great motivation and belief they have heading into next season.
It's great to see the Oilers back together off the ice, and already excited to be talking about preparations for next season. With the additions from Jeff Jackson this offseason the Oilers should be a much better team next year. Hopefully, they'll finally win the first Cup in the McDavid era.
