Last night's game between the Edmonton Oilers and the Chicago Blackhawks took an awkward turn when it was revealed both Connor McDavid's family and Connor Bedard's family shared the same suite.

During a break in the game, Sportsnet panned onto Bedard's family who were sitting in the lower half of the suite and revealed that Mcdavid's family was sitting two rows above.

The McDavid family is in the same suite as the Bedard family at tonight's Oilers/Blackhawks game.

Blackhawks-Oilers Rivalry Heating up with intense effort

This game had the hallmark signs of a growing rivalry between both the Blackhawks and the Oilers. The Blackhawks were ahead 3-0 early in the game to which the Oilers stormed back tying the game 3-3 and then winning the game in the closing minutes.

Oilers star Leon Draisaitl spoke to reporters after the game and felt that even though the game was not pretty, the team found a way to win.

"Sometimes they're not all pretty, Boston-type games where you win 4-0. We had to find a way tonight & we did & that's all that matters." - Oilers star Leon Draisaitl

It became clear that Blackhawks star Connor Bedard is continuing to struggle this season as he smashed his stick just prior to entering the tunnel after the game was over.

It's become well documented of the outbursts that bedard has shown this year as his team continues to struggle and show no signs of improvement.

Oilers must continue a strong effort to stay ahead in Pacific Division

With last night's win, the Oilers remained second in the Pacific division with 55 points through 42 games played. The team has improved dramatically as their goal differential sits at plus 22 and they have gone 7-2-1 in their last 10 games.

The Oilers must remain vigilant in their next set of games as several teams are right behind them including the Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche and the Vancouver Canucks who all could pass them.

It's going to be a very interesting time for the Oilers over the next coming weeks as the Four Nations face off is set to begin in early February and the trade deadline shortly afterwards in early March.
