According to JFresh, a popular hockey analytics account on X, the Oilers will tie the Canucks for the best record in the NHL with 111 points.
That's an absolutely incredible season, and a serious bump up from the Oilers 104 points this season. It shouldn't come to a surprise for the rest of the league though, after the Oilers plummeted to near last place and Coach Knoblauch came in, the team had the best points percentage in the NHL.
Now with a full season of Kris Knoblauch, the new additions in free agency, and retaining key players on value contracts, the Oilers are set up to have their best year of the Connor McDavid era this season. The team will be hungry for success as well, looking to get to unfinished business in the Stanley Cup Final once again.
If the Oilers have a much better regular season, and even win the President's Trophy, it will directly help them in the playoffs. The Oilers home ice advantage in the playoffs was palpable, to the point where everyone in hockey knew the Oilers would win Game 6. If they can flip the script and play their Game 7s at home, the Oilers could be unstoppable.
