The Florida Panthers will be without a key player due to a lower-body injury sustained Friday night against the Anaheim Ducks.

After a knee-on-knee hit by Jackson LaCombe, Alexander Barkov suffered a knee injury in the third period and left the game.

The Panthers improved their standings by defeating the Anaheim Ducks 2-1, finishing 11-5-1 overall, despite their captain's injury.

"Anytime you're missing Alex Barkov, it's never going to be easy," Ekblad said. "But we've got to find a way to get it done against three good teams here coming up."

Consequently, they will be without Barkov against the Edmonton Oilers, who are experiencing a resurgence under Kris Knoblauch, Connor McDavid's former junior coach.

Earlier today, FLA coach Paul Maurice proclaimed Aleksander Barkov as day-to-day. But he will not play tomorrow vs Edmonton.

With 16 games played for the Panthers this season, Barkov has been critical to the team's success. Despite scoring six goals and tying for 17 points with teammate Matthew Tkachuk this season, he remains a crucial piece of the puzzle for tomorrow, which is not likely to be replaced by any depth option.

It will be a battle without their captain, with the Oilers playing with vengeance against their opponents.

It seems like the bell may be tolling for the Panthers tomorrow, as the Oilers will be hunting the hunters.
