Radko Gudas Should Be Suspended For Yet Another Dirty Infraction
The NHL right now is fighting an epidemic of terrible hits. As covered in previous articles, players nowadays seem to not know how to give or receive hits like they used to. This leads to a plethora of risky and questionable hits, sometimes leading to injuries. One of the worst of these such infractions is the slewfoot, the act of using your feet to sweep out another player's foot. These «hits» are very dangerous to the player receiving it, as falling while moving at high speeds in hockey can often lead to bad injuries. In tonight's Anaheim Ducks versus Detroit Red Wings game, Radko Gudas committed an egregious slewfoot against Lucas Raymond which could have easily resulted in injury.
This slewfoot only resulted in a 2 minute interference penalty for Gudas, when you could easily tack on an intent to injure penalty to that because of how blatant the hit was. Slewfoots are some of the most dangerous offences, and the NHLPA needs to start taking action against stupid decisions like this one. Gudas is also known for being one of the dirtier players in the league, so given his past he should definitely be punished for his actions. This is just the most recent example of this recent inability for players to give clean hits, and something needs to be done about it before some players end up seriously hurt.
