Nikita Zadorov ejected for brutal hit to the head of Red Wings Star forward
Moments ago in today's game between the Vancouver Canucks and Detroit Red Wings, defenceman Nikita Zadorov was ejected for an awful hit to the head of Red Wings star forward Lucas Raymond.
The much bigger Zadorov stepped directly into the Raymond for a huge open-ice hit, and made full contact with Raymond's head. Zadorov was given a major penalty and an ejection for the hit, and Raymond was pulled from the game by concussion spotters.
Honestly, it appears that Zadorov's shoulder makes initial contact with Raymond's chest, but as he continues into the hit, Zadorov's head makes contact with Raymond's. With this detail, it'll be interesting to see if the NHL Department of Player Safety decides to pursue supplemental discipline for the play.
