A seasoned NHL player with two Stanley Cup wins and over 800 games played, has announced his retirement.

The Detroit Red Wings selected Helm as the 132nd overall pick in the 2005 draft. Throughout his career, Darren Helm established himself as a valuable contributor in the bottom-six forward position.

At 36 years old, Helm has decided to step away from professional hockey, as officially announced today.

During his time in the NHL, Helm recorded 266 points across 823 games and added 26 points in 103 playoff appearances.

His first taste of Stanley Cup victory came in 2008 with the Red Wings during his rookie year, and he secured his second and final cup with the Avalanche in 2022.

Helm's retirement signifies the end of an impressive career, and he will be remembered for his instrumental role in multiple championship teams throughout his NHL journey.
