There is currently a stand-off between William Nylander and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The team's general manager, Brad Treliving, has recently committed to signing three other players during the off-season, namely Tyler Bertuzzi, Max Domi, and John Klingberg.

William Nylander and the Maple Leafs are not even close' on a contract, and negotiations have not gone well at all, per Chris Johnston.

Nylander doesn't believe he deserves to be paid much less than Auston Matthews or Mitch Marner, and is seeking over $10M AAV on his next deal. Toronto is offering around $8M currently.

«The two sides just see the world differently»

This move has caused some tension, as Nylander has been a consistently productive player for the Maple Leafs and believes that he deserves a salary comparable to that of Auston Matthews.

Nylander has a history of holding out, and this situation could have serious consequences, as the two parties seem to be at odds with each other.

Treliving's decision to focus on Bertuzzi and Domi in the long term may leave Nylander as the odd man out.

Nylander sees himself as a valuable player worth over $10 million, but the Maple Leafs and Shanahan do not share this opinion.

It remains to be seen who will make the first move in resolving this stand-off.
