Tage Thompson, the Buffalo Sabres' top scorer, will be sidelined with an upper-body injury after leaving Wednesday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

After their loss, head coach Don Granato stayed quiet on Thompson's condition. Thompson would exit the game throughout the second half inserious discomfort. Prior to getting hurt, he played 11:16 of the game and did not record a point.

Thompson will not be at the All-Star Game, and his teammate Rasmus Dahlin will be replacing him.

With 34 goals and 34 assists for 64 points in 49 games, Thompson now holds the Sabres' point lead and is fifth in the NHL. With only one point separating them from a wild card place, the Sabres are now competing for a playoff spot. Hopefully this is not a serious injury for Tage Thompson, or the Sabres' playoff hopes will be at great risk.
