Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Matt Murray was supposed to be the starter tonight against the Ottawa Senators as he was the first one out on the ice for warmups, but that wasn't the case tonight as a last-minute change happened and Ilya Samsonov got the nod instead. The game crew showed a shot from Nylander that Murray took up high and seemed to sting him a bit.

Postgame Sheldon Keefe talked to reporters and told them that Murray had "something flare up" making him unable to be the starting goalie. Keefe also stated that it does not have anything to do with the injury he suffered earlier this year. Tough news for Leaf fans as it seems that Murray continues to struggle to stay healthy.

The Leafs acquired the 2-time Stanley Cup winner from the Senators last year along with a third-round pick in the 2023 draft and a seventh-round pick in the 2024 draft for future considerations. The Leafs think Murray is the piece they are missing to finally make it out of the first round of the playoffs, but if not healthy will have to rely on Samsonov to do the job.

It is unclear how severe the injury is to Murray, as of right now the Leafs are unsure if he will be able to suit up for their next game against the Washington Capitals on Sunday.
