Breaking - Former Edmonton Oiler Signs Surprising NHL Contract
A move has been made by the Pittsburgh Penguins and Kyle Dubas today, with only a limited amount of salary cap space available.
As a result, they have been forced to go bargain hunting, as have the Oilers, Leafs, and other teams.
Dmitri Samorukov, a former Oilers' defense prospect, was signed to a 1-year, $775K contract.
As a member of the WBS Penguins, Samorukov has played 11 games and contributed one goal and five points.
While Samorukov has played 3 NHL games between the Edmonton Oilers and St. Louis Blues, he has played 187 AHL games between the Bakersfield Condors, Springfield Thunderbirds, and WBS Penguins.
A career-high 20 points were scored by him with the Blues AHL affiliate in Springfield.
The Penguins have signed defenseman Dmitri Samorukov to a one-year contract.
The contract runs through the 2023.24 season and carries an average annual value of $775,000 at the NHL level.
