After making it to the Western Conference Finals last year and gaining that experience, the Edmonton Oilers are looking to be a playoff contender once more this year. The Oilers have some of the best odds towin the Stanley Cup because to the presence of two of the top players in the world in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

There are still a few weeks until the trade deadline for Oilers General Manager Ken Holland to help increase the Oilers' chances of winning exactly two weeks until March 3rd.

Things won't be simple because the Oilers are barely keeping their heads above the NHL's cap space limit. In a recent interview, Oilers Captain Connor McDavid addressed the cap issues saying the following:

"The Oilers name's been attached to a few bigger names. You know that's new for our group um you know I'm not sure how that all works with money and all that but I know we don't have a ton of it."

The Oilers have been requesting a puck-moving defenseman from Holland, and the team has been considering players like Jakob Chychrun and Erik Karlsson. The Oilers are also in the running to acquire Patrick Kane, now with the Leafs acquiring Ryan O'Reilly the Oilers must act fast.
