Today, the Edmonton Oilers announced that they have mutually parted ways with head scout Tyler Wright and have hired Rick Pracey as the new head.

This may have not been "mutual." This was long overdue for Wright to be fired, as Edmonton have missed out on multiple players, one being the decision not to take Evgeny Svechnikov, even though he got them Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. He was with the Detroit Red Wings beforehand, then was brought in by Ken Holland.

Rick Pracey has over two decades of experience in the scouting department. Being a former goalie himself for a few years, he has experience on the ice as well. He scouted for the Colorado Avalanche for 13 years then was promoted to the Director of Amateur Scouting from 2008-14. He then went to the Philadelphia Flyers and has been with them until this move.

In response to this news, the team brought in Rick Pracey as the new scout to replace Wright. Pracey has been with the Colorado Avalanche for 13 years, spending six of those years as an amateur scout.

Nathan MacKinnon, Tyson Barrie, Gabriel Landeskog, Matt Duchene, and Ryan O'Reilly are among Pracey's draft picks.

Hopefully this brings a new light to the future of the Oilers.
