Edmonton Radio Personality Gets Accused of Misogyny
The launch of Sports 1440 has encountered some unexpected obstacles, particularly in regards to some of the personalities involved.
One such individual is Jason Gregor, who hosts his show on the network. During a recent broadcast, Gregor discussed his desire to hire additional co-hosts and staff members.
«You can't put anyone on air if they don't have experience»
HOW DO YOU GET EXPERIENCE THEN?
When asked if he would consider hiring a female co-host, he responded by stating that he only hires people with experience and that he had already developed a working relationship with Meg Morrison prior to joining Sports 1440.
He went on to say that there weren't many qualified female candidates and that having women on the air wasn't a priority. Unfortunately, these comments come across as insensitive and suggest a lack of understanding about how to avoid being seen as a misogynist.
While Gregor claims to use a merit-based hiring system, it appears that he didn't make an effort to find qualified female candidates. This is a missed opportunity to diversify the staff and create a more inclusive work environment.
