Flames get 330 million dollars for arena project.
Throughout all NHL organizations, there comes a time when the ownership group needs to dive into a major investment in terms of a new arena.
Fans expectations change with the times. Owners always want to give their fans the best experience possible. Whether this is better seating, the video and the sound quality is through the roof, the positioning of all the seats is better, these
are priorities for all NHL organizations.
It's just been announced that the government of Alberta is prepared to offer $330 million towards the Calgary Flames arena project. This new arena for Calgary has been in the works now for several years as the aging saddle Dome is getting to the point of the end of life 4 the flames.
In contrast, the Oilers organization funded the entire project for The Rogers arena entirely by themselves with no government help. I do find it odd that the Flames would get money yet the Oilers would not.
Time will tell if the Flames will get more money from the government, but it appears that their arena project is about to get underway.
