Flyers forward scores goal of the year candidate on incredible solo effort
Late in the third period in tonight's game between the Dallas Stars and Philadelphia Flyers, Owen Tippett made a fantastic bid for the goal of the season with a solo effort down the wing.
Tippett got the puck and streaked down the left wing of the ice with incredible speed until he was one on one with a Stars defender. At that moment, Tippett hit a perfect spin-o-rama move and fired a backhand goal past the Stars goalie.
It's an incredible goal, and the spinning backhand shot is reminiscent of Sidney Crosby goals in his prime. Here's another incredible angle of the goal, that in particular shows how seamless Tippett's backhand shot was.
At the end of the year, this one will be remembered for one of the greatest goals of the NHL season, and right now, sits as a solid contender for goal of the year.
