Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 206 pounds, the 31-year-old forward had a career-best season last year. He played 79 games, scoring 36 goals with 47 assists, accumulating 83 points, and achieving a +13 rating.
Hyman also demonstrated his physicality and toughness, particularly when battling along the boards to facilitate plays for Connor McDavid or Leon Draisatil in their pursuit of goals. He does not tolerate being pushed around and is known for standing up for himself when faced with adversity.
In a preseason game against the Calgary Flames, Hyman faced aggressive play from Flames defenseman Ilya Solovyov, who forcefully pushed him into the boards and slammed his head against the glass.
Hyman responded decisively, delivering a few retaliatory shots to ensure Solovyov understood the gravity of his actions. The game did not go well for the Flames, as the Oilers convincingly defeated them with a score of 7-2. The Oilers have one more preseason game remaining, which will be against the Seattle Kraken, scheduled for October 6th at 9:00 PM.
