Insider Reveals Shocking Update About Coyotes' Future in Arizona
One of the more interesting team stories in the NHL has about the future of the Arizona Coyotes. They've been through hell recently, and the future of the team has been covered by the cloudiness of the team's future. This culminated in Arizona playing out of Arizona State University, in the «mullet arena». This is due to the city of Arizona's refusal to lease out the professional venue to the team, in an obvious bid to rid themselves of the already troubled team. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has repeatedly refused to take hockey out of Arizona, culminating in this embarrassing arena fiasco. It seems that finally, according to Seravalli on the Daily Faceoff, the NHL is ready to shed themselves of this franchise, and move on from Arizona.
This is very striking news, as the NHL has historically been very lackadaisical on the timeline of issues when it comes to the Coyotes. This very real, and very soon deadline seems to be the possible end of the Arizona Coyotes as a franchise.
It would be interesting to see what kind of plan the Coyotes could come up with, as their most recent arena proposal in Tempe before this was struck down due to proximity to the airport. It seems like no matter what they do, the Arizona Coyotes are the black sheep of business in Arizona. Hopefully the Coyotes can pull something out of their bag of tricks, but it's looking more likely than not that it may be time to move on from hockey in the desert
