When the Edmonton Oilers decided to fire their head coach Dave Tippett, they promoted their age show head coach Jay Woodcroft to the job. Now most in the NHL did not know who this man was or what kind of coaching style he would bring to the game.

However, being a younger man and in a speed-skill style league, it remains to be seen how he would cope.

According to Bob Stauffer, since Woodcroft was hired on February 10th, 2022 his record as head coach stood at 76-32-12 which is a .683 winning percentage. That puts him in second overall in the NHL for best record.

Woodcrofts' systems have certainly helped accelerate many of the Oilers' core in terms of offensive numbers including Connor McDavid scoring over 60 goals this year, career years with Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent Hopkins and of course Leon Draisatil's steady play with over 120 points.

With the offseason in full swing, it'll be up to general manager Ken Holland to find new players or resign current ones that will help good craft improve the team's offensive output and defensive game to help propel them deeper into the playoffs and possibly land in the Stanley Cup final.
