Ken Holland wants to win now and this defenseman may be out
Philip Broberg, a first-round draft pick in 2019, was selected as the 8th pick by the Edmonton Oilers.
However, his performance this year has been underwhelming, and the team is currently in "win-now" mode, which means Broberg no longer fits the team's timeline.
Holland says he's trying to figure out what's best for Broberg but they are also trying to win.
Writing on the wall?
As a result, Holland is considering moving the young defenseman if it would help the team acquire pieces to win.
Holland's ultimate goal is to acquire a top-4 defenseman, clear cap space, and fill the roster with winning pieces.
While Broberg hasn't panned out in Edmonton's system, the team that takes a chance on him will have to determine if he's worth the investment.
A fresh start could benefit the youngster.
