London Police officially announce charges against WJC players, one facing twice as much charges
Moments ago, the London Police held a press conference where the officially announced the charges against five players from the 2018 Canadian World Juniors team. The London Chief of Police announced one counts of offence against Carter Hart, Dillon Dube, Cal Foote, Alex Formenton, and Michael McLeod is facing two counts.
Notably, Michael McLeod is facing two counts of the charges, indicating that the investigation proved that McLeod had a greater involvement in the alleged incident.
Chief Truong detailed the depth of the investigation going back to 2018. According to the Chief, an initial investigation produced not enough grounds to lay charges. The case was reopened later on, the police found new information, and now the prosecution have enough grounds for charges. The Chief personally extended his sincere apology to the victim for taking so long to achieve justice, but also stressed the necessity of maintaining assumption of innocence until proven guilty for the accused players.
