McDavid Demonstrates Dedication to Children While Preparing for the New Season
It always brings a smile to my face whenever stars and superstars of professional sports spend time with children. This demonstrates the character of the player and how they will help the new fan base grow with them and become fans of their team.
With all the pressure on the Oilers this season, superstar Connor McDavid decided to dedicate some time to Edmonton at the newly opened Thrive Elementary School, engaging in a game of floor hockey with some of the elementary students.
Thrive Elementary School, which opened its doors on September 5th, 2023, is classified as a charter school that enhances the kindergarten through grade 6 curriculum with science, technology, and mathematics. They also provide meals, extracurricular activities, and transportation at no additional cost to parents.
Floor hockey was one of my favourite sports to play in elementary school, and to imagine Connor McDavid walking through the door, grabbing a stick, and joining the game would be jaw-dropping and a dream come true for kids.
Hats off to Mr. McDavid for his dedication and charity towards these children.
