Multiple Oilers Participate in the Zach Hyman Charity Golf Tournament
It's always heartwarming to learn about NHL stars and professional athletes setting up charitable foundations to support organizations financially. Many of these players earn multi-million-dollar contracts, but instead of splurging on luxuries, they choose to invest in initiatives that can positively impact countless lives in the future.
Oilers forward Zach Hyman is one such player who established a charitable foundation associated with SickKids. During his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Zach initiated this foundation in the form of a golf tournament. The objective of the tournament is to attract numerous NHL players who contribute donations to help the foundation grow.
Remarkably, the foundation is now in its fourth year and has witnessed steady growth.
The recent tournament took place at the Eagles Nest Golf Club in North York on Monday. Notably, many Oilers players participated in the event, alongside several other NHL stars. Speaking about the tournament, Zach Hyman expressed his amazement at the turnout.
«It's amazing to be here. I have an incredible group of players coming out to support, and of course, all the volunteers here. Organizing such a large-scale event is no easy task, and I'm truly grateful for everyone's involvement. I've got a bunch of my teammates here. There are some good players, some pretty average golfers, but all great hockey players, and we also have a bunch of guys from other teams. It's going to be a really fun event.»
"The primary beneficiaries of the tournament are SickKids, UJA Toronto, and UJA Edmonton. SickKids holds a special place in Zach's heart because his first-born son, Theo, received care and support from the organization, as he wears hearing aids. Zach has been supporting SickKids for a long time and continues to be deeply committed to their cause"
The presence of Oilers superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl further enhanced the significance of the tournament. Both players shared their thoughts on the event:
It's incredibly inspiring to witness Zach's teammates rallying behind his cause, and it's equally heartening to know that other NHL players are also stepping up to support charitable initiatives.
Let's hope that the tournament raises a substantial amount for this worthy cause, and kudos to Zach Hyman for organizing such a remarkable event.
