He currently carries a cap hit of $3 million and is in the last year of his contract. At this time it seems no team is interested in trading for him and is waiting for his name to appear on the waiver wire.
However, the news has changed recently, with reports that Colorado Avalanche superstar Mikko Rantanen has reached out to his general manager Joe Sakic to see if there is a possible trade that could be made to bring in the Finnish winger.
Rantanen was quoted saying, "I know what a great guy Jesse Puljujarvi is. It would be a fresh new start for him here with a good dressing room and good support around him. I believe it would work."
Currently, the Avalanche has a deadline cap space of $6.4 million dollars and could easily absorb his salary with no retention. It would be interesting to see if Sakic would be interested in landing this player and what the cost would be in terms of players or draft picks going back. The avalanche would be a team the Oilers should be interested in looking at as they have a pretty deep bench in terms of depth that they could trade for.
With rumours running rampant, Oilers Nation will need to wait and see what General manager Ken Holland has in store for them and their team.
